I
harbored a dream of being a writer since I was young, but unlike many,
I didn't put pen to paper writing stories. Oh, no. I didn't think my
writing was clever. Instead I spent years writing voluminous missives
to friends and relatives, some of whom jokingly called my letters
"novels." Several said I should write books, since I made my tales of everyday life so interesting. I treasured those words, but many
years would pass before I heeded them.
I earned my bachelor's degree in
mass communications with the print journalism option and had many
stories on the front page of my college paper. I worked five years for
a small textbook publisher, my final one as assistant editor.
Motherhood and volunteer work took priority after that, and once again
I chronicled my activities in letter after letter, my recipients' pleas
to try my hand at writing for publication growing more frequent.
Two
years ago, I dusted off my dream and began writing full-time. My first
published piece, an article about teens' sleep needs, placed second in a local magazine's writing contest. An avid romance reader since my own teen years, I began my first historical inspirational romance in 2006 and have completed five manuscripts to date.
A
native Californian, I live in the heart of the Gold Country with my very own hero, our daughter and two skittish cats. I've done extensive research of the
area's rich history. My five stories are set in Gold Rush towns near
Coloma, where James Marshall discovered that first gold nugget and
changed the face of California forever.
I
enjoy classical music, scrapbooking and being an active member of Toastmasters. I have a weakness for Coach™ handbags and love to
eat at Taco Bell™. And what's my favorite thing to do on a Friday night?
Curl up in front of a great romance movie and mush out.
